We’re going to have a little lull here at the theater, but trust us when we tell you it will be brief. We already have two shows line up, “Right Behind” is coming in April and “Chicago”is coming in June. In between, we’ll have comedy galore, maybe a little country, too. And don’t forget Blak Kanvus and spoken word night the third Thursday of every month! So, while we’re catching our breath we’d like a little help sharing our non-profit, co-op office space for rent on the second floor. Starting at $150 a month you can get an office with free electric and free wifi, a shared conference room, shared receptionist area and a shared kitchenette. Shoot, you can’t get the wifi and electric for $150 a month! Help us spread the word, please. We want to fill this building up and keep things moving around here! If interested, shoot an email to email@example.com.
We’ve been crazy busy, so apologies for being behind in our postings. To catch you up, here’s what’s going on this week. Blak Kanvus is back…Tonight! There’s a special River Town Project presentation Friday evening! Oh, and Conshohocken Brewing Company and Five Saints Distilling will be here with free samples! And then on Saturday, those crazy kids from Starving Artist Prevention are back with Delinquent Comedy! Things are happening at the theater! And as always, ticket stub from the theater gets you a 10 percent discount at August Moon!
We need your feedback! In addition to our piano, violin and cello lessons, we’d like to add drum lessons. We have a gentleman who has created a unique way to teach children how to read music while they’re having fun learning how to play the drums. Here’s where we need your help. To bring him on we need at least 10 students to sign up.
Please share this post with your friends and if we get more than 20 emails (firstname.lastname@example.org) saying parents are interested in signing up their children, we’ll start the class this spring!
We’re hosting a clean up day at the theater, thanks to the good folks at the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League, so if you’re looking for place to volunteer just shoot us an email at email@example.com and let us know what your specialty is. If you don’t have one, we’re sure we can find something for you. We’ll meet here at 10 a.m. on Mon. Jan. 16.
We don’t want to wait until after the holidays to start planning for next year, so let’s get this on your calendar today! We’re kicking of the New Year, thanks to our friends at Starving Artist Prevention, with another comedy night. But this one is going to be a little bit different! Head over to the link above for tickets. NOW!
Please take your time and scroll through the collage of photos below. We are so pleased with the way 2016 has turned out and it is all thanks to you, thanks to our sponsors, thanks to the performs, thanks to our board and to everyone who has generously donated to the ‘new’ Centre Theater. As most of you know, we were shut down for almost all of 2015 when lightening literally struck the building. A fundraiser, which was held just up Arts Hill at Theatre Horizon, allowed us to reopen our doors in November, just a little more than a year ago. We were lucky enough to have CCATE, the Center for Culture, Arts, Training and Education move into our third-floor space, providing us with an instant burst of life into the building. We then met with two young men from Starving Artist Prevention, Matt Durkin and Steve Ziegler, and they began booking comedy nights for the fourth floor. From there, as they say, the rest is history. We had more than 1,800 patrons come through our doors in 2016, and that was with just one or two shows a month. We’re looking forward to doubling that number in 2017, with two complete months, March and June already booked and our first comedy night already on the calendar for Jan. 21,we’re well on our way, but we’ll need your help once again. Please take a moment to help support the Centre Theater, our music school, and our soon to be opened children’s movie theater, by sending what you can to The Centre Theater, 208 DeKalb St., Norristown, PA 19401. Thank you once again, and we hope to see you next year at the theater!
We’re pleased to be bringing back Blak Kanvus to the Centre Theater for an encore production of their very successful spoken word night. If you’ve never experienced an evening of spoken word, it’s time to expand your horizons. For tickets and more information email firstname.lastname@example.org
