Mark Twain returns to Norristown!

We are embarking on a great adventure and we need your help! We are on a mission to convert the fourth floor into a 125-seat theater the entire county can be proud of. We’re transitioning from a ‘black box’ theater to a bolted-down, real theater seats, theater and our upcoming fundraiser will make the difference, if we can count on your support! Please purchase a ticket or two and pass this along to your friends, your family and all of your Facebook friends as well. This is going to be one great evening, and you’ll get to meet Mark Twain! Mr. Samuel Clemens performed in our building in the 1870’s and according to an article in The Times Herald, he bombed! He’s coming back to redeem himself! Tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com.

Sam is also being so kind as to donate all of the proceeds of the show to the Centre Theater, so we’re hoping for a sell out!

Life is a cabaret!

March 19 Cabaret

Life is a cabaret old chum, come to the cabaret! In our effort to keep things lively down at the theater, Starving Artist Prevention is offering up a cabaret, old chum. We’ll have singing, dancing, some comedy and who knows what else. Oh yeah, also some craft beer, some hors d’oeuvres and possibly some red carpet photos! And we’re putting it all together so we can host a production of Venus in Fur, a play, by B Sharp Productions! So, please, Come to the cabaret!

Expanding offerings, growing arts!

CT A Cabaret

In our ongoing effort to bring residents of Montgomery County and beyond something a little different we present, “Off Broadway On Centre, A Cabaret” Please give a call and order a couple of tickets for the March 19 event today by calling 484-809-4216 and help support the growing arts community in the county seat. Shoot, you can just call with a donation if you’d like! This is a fundraiser for the theater as well. We’ve been very please with the support we’ve received so far and we hope the community is ready, willing and able to continue to contribute to ensure a lively arts community, which is so critical for the revitalization of Norristown. We have a few more surprises up our collective sleeves so stay tuned!

You do not want to miss this event!

Black History Month at Centre Theater

On display will be a 100-year-old uniform from Norristown’s first black police officer, along with a replica of the Rosetta Stone and a variety of other artifacts from organizer Howard Scott’s personal collection. Guest speakers, live music, door prizes and more will round out an incredible day celebrating the history of America.

Our marquee is getting crowded!

CT Marquee

And that’s a good thing! We really appreciate all of the support we’ve received during the past few months. Our doors are wide open and we have two great events scheduled for February. We’re putting some new paint on the walls and we’re getting some new seats for the fourth floor theater to hold us over until we can raise enough money for a full rehab of the space. We’re also raising money to get our blade sign back in fully functioning order. So, come one come all to these two great events, share with others, including those looking for space to rent, and we’ll continue our behind the scenes work to bring the Centre Theater back up to full speed. As our Twitter tagline says, Steeped in history, excited for the future!

Who’s ready for a good laugh?
